Back in the USA

Before I discuss being back in the US I want to apologize for not updating this. I decided to take a short break from writing because I was going to be back in the US. I'm still in the US, and will return to Haiti on Jan 12th, but I have been doing some work to support the mission since I've been home!

Being back in the US has been an interesting re-adjustment. Maybe its the warm showers, maybe its the cold weather, maybe its just everything, but re-adjusting wasn't as easy as I thought. I've heard of "reverse culture shock" when I was studying abroad in South Africa, but I never experienced it until now. I think that part of this re-adjustment is that I have so much more material capability, that I don't really know what to do with it all. There is a paved road that can take me where ever I want to go and a car to take me there, to shower all I need to do is turn a nozzle, and to flush a toilet all I need to do is push a lever. In Haiti I could really only walk, or be driven by someone at the mission, most showers were cold and from a bucket, and flushing the toilet involved pouring water in the bowl until it was all cleaned out. I went to Haiti in September and came back right before Thanksgiving, and that re-adjustment was difficult enough. I have a feeling coming back in June is really going to be difficult, but all I can do is hope for the best.

I'll be writing more soon. Getting back in the swing of writing has also been a bit difficult, but I hope I can write some more interesting pieces for those of you who enjoy reading this blog.

Good news is that this blog platform has the ability for my audience to give comments, so if any of you would like to hear about something or have any questions please comment on them and I will hope to answer your questions!
